The Summit Murder Mystery series is seven novels, each featuring a climb on one of the Seven Summits, the highest mountains on the seven continents. Along with the usual danger of such an undertaking is now added murder, for nowhere else on earth is easier to kill and get away with it. By taking the deadliest places on earth and adding murder to the mix, you get seven of the most original and exciting murder mysteries ever written.
Authors Charles G. Irion and Ronald J. Watkins begin with Murder on Everest. A fresh murder mystery will be released approximately every six months thereafter.
Contained within Murder on Everest is an eighth book, a prequel written by one of the characters, a fictional tabloid reporter named Quentin Stern. A sleazy account of events occurring on Everest the previous year, Abandoned on Everest, it claims that Derek Sodoc, the wealthy and famous mountaineering son of international media tycoon, Michael Sodoc, was abandoned to his death near the Everest summit. It is amid suspicion and doubt that the same group of climbers is gathered and sent to recover his body, the events portrayed in Murder on Everest.
Abandoned on Everest, released at the same time, is a companion book to Murder on Everest, and though it is a standalone work, it is best appreciated when read after or with the first. The two books offer a unique perspective of the traditional murder mystery.
